“Some games will always be popular”. Interview with Marina Zirka

CASEXE had an interview with Slotegrator’s CEO - Marina Zirka, who’s shared her thoughts on gambling trends, popular online casino games and plans for the future.

Slotegrator was established in 2012 as a gambling software provider, namely of the products for online casino. Within this context, CASEXE and Slotegrator perfectly complement each other, creating a complex solution for operators based on CASEXE platform with games from Slotegrator.

- Marina, could you tell us which games are especially popular among the players? Is the worldwide demand similar to CIS countries? In your opinion, what seems to be more popular and what drives less interest, and why is that so?

Of course, different games are popular in the different regions. Same provider could be highly anticipated in Europe, and in the same time totally strange and unexciting for players from the CIS. Although some games conquered the trust and the hearts of gamblers from all over the world. These are “superhero” games (e.g. Blast Boom Bang, Endorphina), fruit slots (Always Fruits, Amatic; Wild Fruits, Ultra Fresh, Sparkling Fresh, Fresh Fruits, Endorphina), “Marvell heroes” (Iron Men, Captain America, Hulk), “dragons” (50 Dragons, Aristocrat, “monkeys” (Crazy Monkey, Igrosoft), “books” (Book of Ra, Novomatic.).

I think that popularity of games from Igrosoft and Novomatic in the CIS, for example, can be credited to simple habit. When the first online games took off, many gamers have already seen real slot machines from these providers, memorized their first remarkable experience, first taste of victory, so they’ve treated these games as the best ones since then. That’s why when they registered at the online casinos for the first time, it was logical for them to start playing the familiar ‘land based’ slots.

- What kind of global trends can you determine nowadays?

Our company always keeps track of the latest trends in the world of gambling. Apart from the information about our services on the Slotegrator website, News and Blog sections feature many useful information about business generally, plus helpful advices and recommendations from our experts.

When it comes to trends, majority of operators are actively promoting mobile versions of their projects, because the percentage of players who prefer mobile devices is growing rapidly. Thus, the demand for html5 games will only increase. Many providers shift focus to this format. Tom Horn, for example, recently announced that it will make all of its games available in the html5 version.We’ve also been around, securing the partnership with a new provider - Booming Games, whose gaming products are absolutely mobile-friendly.

I’ve also noticed that many big providers turned to Asia. This is the huge market requiring a specific approach. For example, we also offer Betsoft, which has developed a special game for the Asian market titled 4 seasons. It’s also worth mentioning that an interest to e-Sports is growing, being largely popular in the USA and now Europe.

In other words, the market is evolving and companies buy each other (NYX acquired Openbet), new software is being developed, as well as even more efficient marketing strategies, which means that players will only benefit and get new exciting and quality games.

- What kind of games have been the most successful previously? Are they still popular?

Some slots have become classical: Fruit Cocktail, Crazy Monkey, Book of Ra, Beetle Mania, Big Catch, Dragon Slot... It seems to me that they’d always be popular, they’re like a small black dress that has to be in every girl’s closet. In a similar way, classical slot games have to be available in every online casino.

- What is your prediction for the future? What games will be more popular this year, which providers will be the most demanded and why?

It’s hard to make specific predictions. Providers generally take some time before sharing their ideas until they’re implemented. Anyway, there’ll be some new games and new providers as well. I can’t tell you the exact secret of popularity, but key terms for a good start of any game include high quality and proper marketing.

- Which plans does Slotegrator have for the nearest future? Can we expect something new?

We have big and ambitious plans. We continue to participate in gambling exhibitions and conferences. This June, we’re going to attend Russian Gaming Week in Moscow. Also, we invite everyone to the Slotegrator Academy, project where all subscribers can participate in webinars from our experts and invited guests, ask questions and get necessary information, which will help to take their projects to the new level.
